Eight Days of Thanksgiving to Yahweh

Though few people are aware of it, the American Thanksgiving Tradition - and its seasonally earlier counterpart in Canada - has biblical ties to the autumn harvest Feast of Sukkot or Tabernacles. This special week-long feast is still kept faithfully by some Christians and Messianics and all religious Jews around the world in September or October of every year.

As a Harvest Festival, much joy and merry-making surrounds the keeping of the Feast of Sukkot, which is the seventh and final of the original Feasts of Yahweh. As the final feast, Sukkot or Tabernacles represents the coming everlasting Kingdom of God that will one day be established on Earth from the old city of Jerusalem during the Millennial Rule of Christ, and also afterward in eternity - from the holy city of God called the New Jerusalem, where the Bride of Christ and her Five Wise Virgin handmaidens will one day dwell.

In honor of the Feast of Tabernacles and the American (and Canadian) Thanksgiving tradition based upon it, I plan to meditate on eight Scriptures that I chose because they focus on the concept of thanksgiving and praise to Yahweh God. I will be doing so from November 24th through to the first day of Advent on December 1st, and I hope that you will join me in praising our Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace!

These Scripture verses were taken from both the Old Testament and the New Testaments. Together, they show that there are many wonderful reasons for us to give thanks right now, and at any time of year, just as there are many methods for believers in Yahshua to show their thanks to God and one another for the blessings they receive.

I hope you will join me in studying and praying about these thanksgiving verses for the allotted eight days. If you do, I am certain that this process will greatly bless you. I personally have found these Scriptures to be both comforting and convicting. I hope that they will do the same for you, even while encouraging you to make thanksgiving to God an integral part of your daily spiritual devotions as we await Yahshua’s soon return.

In the meantime, Have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!

Maranatha!

Your Sister in Yahshua,

Scripture for November 24th:
Encouraging God’s People to Play Melodies and Sing Joyful Songs to Yahweh in Thanksgiving for the coming restoration of Israel in the Kingdom of God:

Isaiah 51:2-4 ~
“Look to Abraham your father,
And to Sarah who bore you;
For I called him alone,
And blessed him and increased him.”
3 For Yahweh will comfort Zion,
He will comfort all her waste places;
He will make her wilderness like Eden,
And her desert like the garden of Yahweh;
Joy and gladness will be found in it,
Thanksgiving and the voice of melody.
4 “ Listen to Me, My people;
And give ear to Me, O My nation:
For law will proceed from Me,
And I will make My justice rest
As a light of the peoples.”

Scripture for November 25th:
Encouraging God’s People to Give Thanks for the Coming Establishment of the Kingdom of God in Christ:

Jeremiah 30:18-20 ~
“Thus says Yahweh:
‘ Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents,
And have mercy on his dwelling places;
The city shall be built upon its own mound,
And the palace shall remain according to its own plan.
19 Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving
And the voice of those who make merry;
I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish;
I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
20 Their children also shall be as before,
And their congregation shall be established before Me;
And I will punish all who oppress them.”

Scripture for November 26th:
Encouraging God’s People Not to Worry, but to Trust God to Provide and Give Us His Peace:

Philippians 4:6-7 - “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Messiah Yahshua.”

Scripture for November 27th:
Encouraging God’s People to Walk As One With Yahshua and Give Thanks For Our Salvation:
Colossians 2:6-7 - “As you therefore have received Messiah Yahshua our Adonai, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

Scripture for November 28th:
Encouraging God’s People to Remain Faithful and Rejoice in Our Freedom Through Christ:

1 Timothy 4:1-5 - “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.”

Scripture for November 29th:
Encouraging God’s People to Give Thanks for Their Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Coming First Resurrection Into Everlasting Life:

2 Corinthians 4:13-16 - “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke’ (Psalm 116:10), we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up Adonai Yahshua will also raise us up with Yahshua, and will present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.”

Scripture for November 30th:
Encouraging God’s People to Give Thanks For God’s Spiritual and Physical Provision in Our Lives:

2 Corinthians 9:10-12 - “Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplies the needs of the saints, but also is abounding through many thanksgivings to God.”

Scripture for the First Day of Advent, December 1st:
Encouraging God’s People to Give Thanks for Being Counted Worthy to Worship God in His Holy Presence Forever Among the Cherubim:

Revelation 7:11-12 - “All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures (i.e. Cherubim), and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying:
‘Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom,
Thanksgiving and honor and power and might,
Be to our God forever and ever.’ Amen!”
