HOW BELIEVERS SHOULD PREPARE FOR TRIBULATION

NOTE FROM HELENA: This Article was written in March of 2015, and heavily revised and updated on June 9th, 2015. So please be sure to re-read it if you read the earlier version.
Since publishing my article “THE SHEMITAH YEAR HEAVENLY SIGNS PROCLAIM YAHSHUA'S SOON RETURN!” on my POEM Ministry Blog, and sharing the potential meaning that I see in the Signs surrounding the 2015 Shemitah Year and 2016 Jubilee Year, several people have asked me how we should prepare for what is coming, considering that we may be here to witness even greater horrors in this world than we already have if the Rapture is still some time away, or in the terrible event that some of us are numbered among the Foolish Virgins, and thereby get left behind to suffer through the Great Tribulation. See My Study of the meaning of the Parable of the Ten Virgins in Matthew,Chapter 25 by Clicking HERE to see if you might be among the Foolish Virgins, and what you need to do to make sure that you are numbered among the Wise Virgins that don't get left behind!

The answer that first came to my mind after praying about what believers need to do to survive coming tribulation is that we should focus on our faith in God's promises to us, as well as in preparing our hearts to meet our Creator God, whether it will be in death - when born-again believers will immediately go to be with Yahshua in Heaven - or via the coming Rapture of the Bride of Christ and the Five Wise Virgins to Heaven. The reason why this should be number one in our minds right now is because, no matter how well prepared we may be for coming disasters, or how skilled we may be at survival in hostile environments, the enormous volume of violence, deprivation and destruction that is coming to all who live in this world as the Tribulation surrounding us worsens will soon be so fierce that few will be able to survive it. In fact, Yahshua promised to shorten this time of trouble because "unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved" (Matthew 24:22).

This is why, instead of first thinking about how we should physically prepare to survive, we need to think in terms of eternity. To prepare our hearts for our future with Christ, we need to focus on Yahshua and remember His commandments, asking the Holy Spirit in us to remind us of them and help us to live by them. We also need to develop the kind of faith that always trusts God to provide for our needs, no matter what. You can start developing that kind of faith today by asking God for forgiveness and guidance, and then asking Him to give you what you need, and trusting Him to provide it - not just in the little things, but in everything, big or small!

To be like Christ, we also need to let go of ALL hatred, anger, unforgiveness, bitterness, and fear by going to the foot of the Cross, and asking Yahshua, God the Father and the Holy Spirit to redeem us from the poisonous hold of all these negative, hurtful emotions and feelings on our hearts, minds and spirits. While doing so, we need to keep in mind that Scripture warns us that hate and unforgiveness can and will keep us from the love and forgiveness that God is ready and willing to give all of us if we decide to repent and turn away from these sins.

In addition, although it is not a sin to experience sorrow and sadness because we live in a fallen world currently under Satan's wicked control, and even though we will experience persecution when we witness to others and teach them about how to enter the Kingdom of God and find true Liberty and Freedom in Christ, we should also ask God to remind us of the joy and perfection we will experience when we finally live in the heavenly Mansions we long to see after our deaths, or after the Rapture. We should also seek to experience some of the coming flood of joy we will know in Yahshua's Millennial Kingdom on the Earth through thanking, praising and worshiping God with dance, prayer and song as often as we can find time to do so. This will have a healing affect on our bodies, minds, spirits and environments by chasing away demonic influences.

Another aspect of protecting ourselves from demonic attack and sickness is partaking in Communion in your home, everyday if necessary. When taught about properly, believers should know that the act of Communion, or our ritual remembrance of the "Lord's Supper" (which was a Passover Meal!), is not just a ritual by which we "remember" the stories of Jesus or Yahshua that we read in the Bible, but it is also a way to thank Yahshua for dying on the Cross for us, and to promise Him that we will always follow Him. In fact, taking Communion is as much a symbol of our promise to obey God as it is to remember what His Son did for us. In essence, we are symbolically dying to the secular world and saying "NO!" to all its lusts and desires with Yahshua when we take in His body and blood, and we are ASKING to be re-born in Christ's image by the Holy Spirit, Who alone can give us the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit when we ASK!

In order to be re-born and receive the Holy Spirit, we MUST AUDIBLY ASK God in prayer to be our Master in every area of our lives, and we MUST give all of our hopes, dreams, ambitions, motivations, and fears over to Him because we trust Him to discard what is not good, and to fulfill all the good things that God wants to reward us with, whether in this life or the next. When we do NOT do this, we open ourselves up to failure, disappointment, and judgment! As the Apostle Paul warned, those partaking in Communion without a true spirit of faith, surrender, obedience and belief in Yahshua or Jesus are drinking and eating judgment upon themselves for dishonoring Yahshua's bodily sacrifice, and disrespecting His lordship over our lives:
~*~ 1 Corinthians 11:28-30 ~*~  “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.”
Although we may get sick due to imbalances in our bodies that bacteria and viruses rely on, or from deadly chemical pollution in our environments, we all need to realize that there is a spiritual reason why we all become susceptible to sickness and disease. I know that a large part of our susceptibility to various diseases comes from fear. It is a symptom of not trusting God enough or listening to our bodies when they are trying to tell us that our over-stressful or over-indulgent lifestyles may be killing us. The way to conquer this fear is to get things right with God by returning to living a godly and healthy natural lifestyle, praying to God and asking Him for forgiveness for backsliding, and asking God for guidance on what to do differently. Then all that's left is for us to stop making excuses, and to do what it takes to get well!

Yes, we all need to stop making excuses, take responsibility for our own health and happiness, and follow God's Word if we want to live lives without the stress of constant illness, like I am suffering from right now from a lack of applying the principles I know to be true. Granted, getting back on track and living this way isn't easy when your environment and your life mate are not interested in following the same path. But it can be done. You just need to rely on God the Father and His Son and Spirit more than ever, and to cultivate UNSHAKABLE FAITH!

As for physical preparation, having a few months supply of canned and dried food and plenty of stored water is about all most of us can afford or even find the room for in our homes. In addition, we have to remember that - in the event of war or an economic collapse and the need for Martial Law - grocery stores will soon be emptied, banks will be closed and money will be virtually useless anyway. So you should be prepared by having extra prescription medicine, and non-prescription medicines on hand like iodine, peroxide, aspirin and antibiotic ointment. You should also have extra toiletries like paper towels, toilet paper, toothpaste, bar soap and shampoo on hand, as well as particulate masks and gas masks, plastic suits and plastic gloves to wear in the event that the environment is contaminated with deadly diseases or nuclear or chemical waste.

Those who plan on trying to survive on a long term basis (in the event that they are left behind) should also have supplies to sew their own clothes and household items, and grow their own food. For this, you will need a variety of quality vegetable and herb seeds - preferably stored in an air-tight and waterproof container, a soap-based insecticide concentrate, and a good liquid fish-based fertilizer concentrate, along with some sturdy, water-filled spray bottles to mix these in and to spray your plants with.

To grow your garden, you should look to do so either in indoor or sheltered outdoor moisture-retaining, soil-filled containers. You should also consider making some kind of greenhouse type shelter on your balcony or in your garden to protect your food from airborne chemicals, and bacterial and insect contamination.

You should also have plenty of flashlights, batteries, kerosene lanterns and a small balcony or yard-based propane grill with one or more full tanks of propane stored away in order to cook meats and other foods with, as well as a gas-fueled power generator, long power cords, and 10 to 20 gallons of gas stored in a shed or garage in the event that there are power-outages and you need to get your heater, small appliances, and refrigerator to function. Remember that gas in your vehicles can be siphoned out to use for this if necessary using a long plastic hose, but then you may not have enough gas if you need to drive to a new location, depending on  how long your community is without power. But in the event of a complete government and economic collapse, this could take months if not years, and what will you do then?

You see, the problem with all of these preparations is that there is no way to know if you will have enough to survive when the world explodes into chaos, and destruction hits your community. In addition, unless you are independently wealthy and can afford to build a bomb shelter fully stocked with a few years worth of supplies, some of the catastrophes that will be coming upon the world during the Great Tribulation will be so bad that no one above ground will be able to survive it UNLESS GOD MIRACULOUSLY PROTECTS THEM. So we all better make sure we have the kind of faith that can move mountains if we want to survive!

For an example of what unsaved humanity will be up against, the Book of Revelation promises that cataclysmic earthquakes will shake the entire world and topple whole cities to the ground during the Tribulation! (See Revelation 16:17-19). So if you live in a city when the earthquakes strike - no matter how well-prepared you are - you will very likely be crushed by falling debris with no hope of rescue. At the very least, you will lose the ability to get to most of your supplies because they will be buried under the rubble of your home and other surrounding buildings, or swallowed whole into the Earth by the violent upheaval of the ground!

In the event of a total economic and government collapse - you also need to realize that lawlessness will explode, and your unprepared, unsaved neighbors will become dangerous enemies as they look for food, water, clothes and other essentials to survive and find out you have what they are looking for. So, if at all possible, we would have to try to find like-minded believers to get together with in the event of a disaster. Because the moment that your unsaved neighbors find out that you have the supplies they lack, they could be driven to hurt, maim, or kill you to get to them if you are unwilling to share what you have. Even if you do share your supplies (and you should be prepared to do this in order to be like Christ), that may not be enough to stop them from hurting or killing you unless you can find some safety in numbers.

This brings up the important Faith-based point that we need to think about how we will share our supplies while witnessing to the lost, and how much we will need to trust in God to provide for us when we do share what we have. In this regard, we must all faithfully remember Matthew 14:13-21, where Yahshua miraculously fed thousands of people with a few loaves and fishes, and when, in 1 Kings 17:8-16, Elijah blessed the widow who sheltered him with containers of flour and oil that never became empty during a famine in Israel. So, if we are faithful to God, we will not only remember to pray for daily provision, but to always trust in God’s promises to provide for us in every time of need. Because, if we do this, and follow Yahshua as the Way, the Truth and the Life, we will be miraculously provided for - no matter how low our supplies may appear to get.

Of course, no matter how godly we are, or how generous or well-prepared, we all eventually have to die, if from nothing else but old age. So we should be prepared always to meet our Maker, and to make sure we get things right with God in our hearts before He comes for us, whether in death or in the Rapture. This means letting go of all hate, bitterness and unforgiveness in our hearts, and living with a spirit of love, generosity, forgiveness, mercy and compassion at all times as we set an example for others with our godly living, kindness and faith. When we do this, we can destroy the grip of fear in our hearts by knowing that we have nothing to fear in death! Our inner peace comes not from a state of mind, but from the condition of our hearts. When we are living rightly with God, there should be no sickness that can stifle us with fear, and no fear of death within us at all.

This leads me to confront the unpleasant idea of using the fear of man and the violence that he can unleash on his own kind to survive. I firmly believe that Yahshua has not called us to use violence unless it is absolutely necessary, and I believe we must be called by God to use it before we do. Although some might think we should store deadly weapons and ammunition and be prepared to use them to defend ourselves and protect our supplies, the only reason we should need to use them if we are generous with those in need and are gathered together with other believers is to hunt animals for food. But even then, the Great Tribulation plagues will be so severe that few animals, fish or birds are likely to survive it. So there will be few to hunt, and even those animals that survive will likely be UNSAFE to eat!

With the exception of Israel and the possible appearance of some cities of refuge that God might provide elsewhere, you have to wake up and realize that the world is going to be reduced to a contaminated, polluted, barren wasteland before the Battle of Armageddon ensues! Please carefully read Revelation 16, Revelation 18 and Revelation 19 to see what I am talking about, and don't try to trivialize these disasters by not taking them literally. There is NO portion of Scripture that should not be taken both allegorically as well as LITERALLY. In other words, you must cultivate the knowledge that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16). As such, both the allegorical and literal meaning of all Scripture is to be believed, contemplated, and applied!

Taken literally, the Book of Revelation is telling us that terrible, life-threatening calamities will hit the WHOLE WORLD, not just isolated parts of it! In fact, I believe that the Battle of Armageddon will ensue when the desperate and wicked survivors in parts of the world where there are no cities of refuge surround the cities of refuge in Israel and elsewhere with the intent to attack and kill the inhabitants and steal their supplies! I also believe that this is when Yahshua and His heavenly armies will arrive in time to stop the carnage that would ensue if they were successful in attacking the refuge cities of the people of God.

Contrary to what many believe, there is no evidence in Scripture that Yahshua ever taught His disciples to use weapons to defend themselves, even when there appear to be no other options. Yahshua instead told His disciples to love their enemies, bless those who persecute them, and turn the other cheek. The reason for this is simple. Yahshua wants us to COMPLETELY rely on Him to defend us, and to trust in His perfect timing to exact judgment on those who wish us harm and refuse to repent.

So my strongest advice to you is this: Please learn to completely rely on Yahshua and God the Father and Holy Spirit for all your spiritual and physical needs. Because only God can provide you with all that you need, in this life, and in the next. You also need to be prepared to die, and to do so with faith and peace in knowing where you are going, and how much good our loving God has in store for you, both in Heaven after death or the Rapture, and beyond.

MARANATHA AND GOD BLESS YOU!

  1. ATTENTION PREPPERS: Did you know that the Patriarch Joseph was a type of Christ? He was also the second Prepper in the Bible, with Noah being the first! When Joseph served as a Prince of Egypt and Vizier to Pharaoh, Joseph blessed the known world during the seven year famine because of his spiritual awareness and good stewardship. BUT NOTE THIS IMPORTANT FACT: Joseph prepared because he was guided to do so, and because he was obedient, he blessed all the sons of Jacob or Israel who didn't. So God provided for Israel even though the majority of them didn't prepare. In this way, Joseph was seen as a wise man and savior for many.

Likewise, Moses saved many animals that did not prepare for annihilation, and Yahshua blessed the whole world with His divine wisdom, great love for mankind and His sacrifice for our sins on the Cross. Since Yahshua is the Savior to all who believe in Him, don't you think we owe it to Yahshua to not be afraid and to trust His promises to provide for those who love Him? Yahshua WILL PROVIDE for those He loves, and He is coming again very SOON! Are You Ready???
